INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis International Airport has announced eight new nonstop routes launching in 2025, making the airport one of the fastest-growing in America in terms of new route additions and extending the city's remarkable run of air service expansion that has added 22 new routes since 2021.
The new destinations include San Diego, Denver (second carrier), Austin, Nashville, Boston, Quebec City (seasonal summer service), Calgary (seasonal), and Orlando (third carrier). The additions bring the airport's total nonstop destination count to 74 cities — a record for Indianapolis International Airport.
The route expansion reflects both growing demand from Indianapolis travelers and the airport's competitive positioning as an alternative to Chicago O'Hare for Indiana and western Ohio travelers willing to drive to Indianapolis for direct service.
"We have consistently been ranked among the best airports in North America for on-time performance, passenger experience, and cost efficiency," said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez. "That reputation is attracting airlines who see Indianapolis as a growth market."
Terminal Improvements
The airport is also investing $45 million in terminal improvements this year, including expanded food and retail offerings in the main terminal, renovated restroom facilities, expanded pre-check lanes, and improved wayfinding signage. The improvements are funded through airport revenue bonds and federal Airport Improvement Program grants.
